Abstract:

The social or solidarity economy represents a large area in the structure of the economies of many countries. It is founded on several basic principles based on the democratic participation of individuals in achieving development. Also, it establishes the values of equality, equal opportunities and fair distribution of wealth. In addition, it works through a set of tools that differ among themselves in terms of organizational forms and methods adopted by them. It is an economic model that seeks to address the imbalances resulting from the market economy, as well as its ability to function as an independent sector alongside the public and private sectors in achieving the comprehensive development in its economic and social dimensions. Social solidarity is a vital sector in the structure of the Egyptian economy. It works through several nongovernmental organizations, the most important of which are cooperatives, NGOs, and other governmental organizations that seek to implement the objectives of the country's social policy such as enterprise development authority and social protection programs.
