Abstract:

It can be said that one of the most critical elements of being able to compete with other countries on a global scale is innovation capacity. This study aims to determine the relationship between innovation capacity and global competition while revealing the effect of innovation components on competitiveness. For this purpose, the relationship between the countries innovation capacity GII index of the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO and the country scores within the scope of the global competitiveness index of the International Center for Management Development IMD was examined with correlation analysis, while the effect of innovation components on competition was tested with regression analysis. The sample group of the study consists of 64 countries included in the global competitiveness index, and the data set for the year 2024 was used. The findings obtained showed that there is a statistically significant and positive relationship between innovation capacity and global competition. According to the regression analysis in the study, it was revealed that the components of innovation capacity affect global competition. The research results emphasize the need for countries to focus on innovation capabilities that increase their competitiveness. This study is original in that it considers global innovation capacity and global competitiveness together and determines the size of the relationship between them with the regression analysis method.
