 Branding is very important for institutions today, where information has a rapid spread network. Branded institutions stand out among their peers and become more attractive to their target audience. At the same time, being known in national or international platforms depends on brand success. For this reason, institutions need a rational, aesthetic and up-to-date corporate identity guide in the promotion of their products and services. Corporate identity is shaped according to the strategy, philosophy, services of the institutions and the desires of the target audience. Here, visual identity elements, which we can express as the visible face of the institution, have a great role. Because the communication established with visuals develops faster and reaches universal dimensions. The most basic element of visual identity is logos and emblems. Visual design elements that make up the visual identity of the institution; It is designed according to the logo and emblem in the context of shape, typography and color. For this reason, logos and emblems, which form the basis of the visual identity of the institution, are the first symbols encountered in the branding of the institutions. Visual identity will contribute to the widening of the communication network of the universities known in national and international platforms and keeping them visible like other institutions. This contribution will be realized when universities adopt the corporate identity guide with all their units and reflect the visual identity of the institution they belong to. Because universities are a whole with all their units. From this point of view, it is aimed to evaluate the logos used in the sub-units of state universities in Turkey in the context of visual identity. In the study, the logo and emblem designs in the corporate identity guides and web pages of the universities were examined with a descriptive research model. The concepts of the study were turned into a report within the scope of field scanning. The obtained university logos were analyzed in the context of visual identity. In this context, the research is qualitative. As a result, it has been understood that many universities have weak corporate identity guides or do not have corporate identity guides, so they cannot reflect their visual identities. At the end of the research, suggestions are presented for universities in this situation.

 Bilginin hızlı bir yayılım ağına sahip olduğu günümüzde kurumlar için markalaşma oldukça önemlidir. Markalaşmış olan kurumlar benzer rakipleri arasından sıyrılarak ön plana çıkar, hedef kitlesine daha cazip hale gelir. Aynı zamanda ulusal ya da uluslararası platformlarda bilinir olmak marka başarısına bağlıdır. Bu nedenle kurumların, ürün ve hizmetlerini tanıtımında rasyonel, estetik ve güncel bir kurumsal kimlik kılavuzuna ihtiyaçları vardır. Kurumsal kimlik, kurumların stratejisi, felsefesi, hizmetleri ve hedef kitlesinin arzularına göre şekillenmektedir. Burada kurumun görünen yüzü olarak ifade edebileceğimiz görsel kimlik unsurlarına büyük görev düşmektedir. Çünkü görsellerle kurulan iletişim daha hızlı gelişmekte ve evrensel boyutlara ulaşmaktadır. Görsel kimliğin en temel öğesi ise logo ve amblemlerdir. Kurumun görsel kimliğini oluşturan görsel tasarım unsurları; şekil, tipografi ve renk bağlamında logo ve ambleme göre tasarlanmaktadır. Bu nedenle kurumun görsel kimliğinin temelini oluşturan logo ve amblemler kurumların markalaşmasında ilk karşılaşılan imgelerdir. Ulusal ve uluslararası platformlarda söz sahibi olan üniversitelerin diğer kurumlar gibi iletişim ağını genişletmesine, görünür kalmasına görsel kimlikleri katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu katkı ancak üniversitelerin tüm birimleriyle kurumsal kimlik kılavuzunu özümsemesi ve ait olduğu kurumun görsel kimliğini yansıtması ile gerçekleşecektir. Çünkü üst kimlik olan üniversiteler alt birimleriyle bir bütündür. Buradan hareketle araştırmada, Türkiyedeki devlet üniversitelerinin alt birimlerinde kullanılan logolarının görsel kimlik bağlamında değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak, üniversitelerin kurumsal kimlik kılavuzları ve web sayfalarında yer alan logo ve amblem tasarımları betimleyici araştırma modeli ile incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın kavramları alan taraması dâhilinde bir rapor haline getirilmiştir. Ulaşılan üniversite logolarının görsel kimlik bağlamında analizleri yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak birçok üniversitenin kurumsal kimlik kılavuzlarının zayıf olduğu ya da kurumsal kimlik kılavuzunun olmadığı bu nedenle de görsel kimliklerini yansıtamadığı anlaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda bu durumdaki üniversiteler için öneriler sunulmuştur.
