Abstract:

Mehmet Emin Rasulzadeh, the founder of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, not only remained on the pages of history, but also became the subject of literary works. Although many studies have been conducted on the life and activities of Rasulzadeh, his image in Azerbaijani literature has not been studied. In order to evaluate the image of Rasulzadeh in Azerbaijani poetry, poems about Rasulzadeh were first identified, and then the poems were examined on the basis of work-centric theories. The biography of Rasulzadeh is briefly mentioned in the article in order to determine how much his personality depicted in the poems coincides with reality. According to the opinion prevailing in modern Azerbaijani literary criticism, it is argued that the number of literary works dedicated to Rasulzadeh is insufficient. The study examined this assumption from a critical perspective. The article analyzes literary examples against Rasulzadeh in Azerbaijani poetry of the Soviet period, and then examines the theme of Rasulzadeh in Azerbaijani poetry of the late 1980s and the independence period. In the 1930s, poets such as Samad Vurgun, Suleiman Rustam, Mikail Refili wrote satirical poems against Rasulzadeh to fulfill the demands of Soviet ideology. Poems written since the 1980s show discussions of Rasulzadehs sacrifices for the creation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the policies he pursued, the problems he experienced, and other topics. In the late 1980s, poets such as Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh, and during the period of independence Nariman Hasanzadeh, Baba Punhan, Zalimkhan Yakub, Yetim Kajar, Kamala Abiyeva, Sara Seljan, Arif Gurshadoghlu, Zaur Ilhamoghlu, Elmeddin Matlab, Shadiman, Shahzadeh, who wrote in syllabic, free and aruz meter, created the image of Rasulzadeh in their poems. In the meykhana genre, the portrait of Rasulzadeh was drawn with the help of the meykhana Rasulzadeh by Vahid Kadim and the meykhana Be Men by Javid Babashov. It has been determined that in the poems about Rasulzadeh, the concepts of alienation, forgetfulness, indifference, loss of memory, freedom, injustice, sadness, revenge, embarrassment, guilt, requests for forgiveness, protection and guarantee are used as themes.
