Abstract:

Marcel Aimee and Nagwa Shaaban's literature is unique and magical as reality interacts with imagination in images inspired by their childhood, including religious beliefs and the imagination of the village community. The Green Horse novel takes place in the same village, which is the birthplace of the writer, expressing a community study where the ethics and behaviour of the inhabitants of the village during the nineteenth century are addressed. At the same time, the novel of "Nawt al-Karam" revolves in the Egyptian city of Damietta, which is also the birthplace of the writer, expressing a societal study dealing with the customs and behaviour of the inhabitants of the city during the 16th century AD.
This study aims to shed light on some of the different theories of the term magical realism among critics and to try to apply these theories to the two narratives in question, which can be said to contain many different images of magical realism, including fantasy, wonders and out-of-the-ordinary through religion, dreams and return to reality again. The study also reveals new models of narrative presentation in a fictional image that is far from tradition.
