Abstract:

The study area covers the Dörtyol, district of Hatay, a province annexed to the Motherland in 1939, located along the western slopes of the Amanos Mountains. The Dörtyol district extends from the Mediterranean coast to the peaks of the mountainous area exceeding 2000 meters. Within the borders of the district, there are seven neighbourhoods with urban character, along with three villages and five settlements functioning as small towns. In the study, the micro-land use patterns of six village and town character settlements were focused on. Since the general land use structure is not sufficient to reveal the diversity of the products produced in the field in detail, it is aimed to share with the scientific community the distribution forms that emerged by overlapping the parcellation and crop pattern information of the settlements. For this purpose, field studies were conducted in settlements with varying morphographic characteristics in the district to clarify the relationship between physical structure and crop patterns. Kuzuculu, Karakese and Konaklı settlements are located on sloped and rugged topography while Altınçağ, Yeşilköy and Yeniyurt are located on the flat plains of the Dörtyol plain. The study aims to examine the distinct features of the crops grown and parceling characteristics between the plains and the foothills or slopes.
