Abstract:

With the proclamation of the Republic, public buildings were designed and intensive construction activities started in the newly founded country. Educational buildings are at the forefront of these activities. The most important reason for this is that the administration, which wants to establish a systematic organisation system, redesigns education and training with new principles and reforms, and builds schools where male and female students receive education together, away from religious sanctions and built with a secular education understanding. Gazi School, which has been continuing education uninterruptedly since its construction until today, is one of the type projects sent from Ankara, which embodies the characteristics of the I. National Architectural style. The school was built in a rectangular plan scheme. In Denizli, the rectangular plan scheme is seen in most of the historical schools built in the Early Republican Period, and Gazi School is one of them. In addition to reflecting the architectural features of the First National Architecture Period, it also incorporates the traditional architectural features formed in Anatolia. Similar examples can be seen in many cities in Anatolia in terms of plan and facade features.
