 The first three hijri centuries are highly important for the upcoming eras because written works have survived and important scholars have lived in these centuries. With the conquests started during the era of four khalifs, Arabs started to live together with people from other nations, which caused the original Arabic to become corrupted. Syntax rules were started to be developed in order to prevent the corruption of original Arabic and to protect it. While that the primary sources in determining the rules of syntax were Quran verses, poetry and prose is unquestionable; hadiths were used later as well. Yet, scholars focused on whether hadiths can be used as witnesses in determining the rules of syntax discipline. While the first era linguists İbnud-Dâi and Ebû Ḥayyân opposed to the testimony of hadiths, they used them a few times in their works and preferred to remain silent. They were first used as witnesses by İbn Mâlik. Later, reconciliatory approach, which started with Şâtibî and continued with Suyûṭî, came into existence and it continued in the modern times.

 Hicrî ilk üç asır, Arap lisanı alanında yazılı malzemenin günümüze ulaşması ve önemli âlimlerinin bu dönemde yetişmesi sebebiyle daha sonraki dönemler için oldukça önemlidir. Hulefâ-yı Râşidîn Döneminde başlayan fetih hareketleriyle Arapların mevâlîyle birlikte yaşamaya başlaması fasih Arapçanın bozulmasına sebep olmuştur. Fasih Arapçanın bozulmasının önüne geçmek ve onu korumak için nahiv usulü kaidelerinin tespit edilip geliştirilme çalışmaları hız kazanmıştır. Tespit edilen nahiv kaidelerini saptamada ve doğrulamada tanık gösterilen temel kaynağın öncelikle Kuran âyetleri, daha sonra şiir ve nesir olması tartışılmazken ileriki dönemlerde de hadisler tanık gösterilmeye başlanmıştır. Ancak, Arap bilim insanları hadislerin gramer kurallarının tespitinde tanık olarak kullanılıp kullanılmayacağı konusuna odaklanmıştır. İlk dönem dilcilerden İbnüd-Dâi ve Ebû Ḥayyân hadislerin tanıklığına karşı çıkarken eserlerinde hadisleri birkaç defa tanık gösterip suskun kalmayı tercih etmişlerdir. İlk defa İbn Mâlik, hicrî yedinci asırda eserinde hadisleri tanık olarak kullanmıştır. Daha sonra eş-Şâtıbî ile başlayan ve Süyûtî ile devam eden uzlaşmacı yaklaşım ortaya çıkmış ve bu yaklaşım modern dönemde de devam etmiştir.
