Abstract:

In our county, governmental agencies responsible for soil and agricultural reforms still use storie index methods, which are used for land consolidation. In spide of knowing that there were insufficient parts of this method, no alternative methods were yet been carried out. In this study using Storie index and new land evaluation method has tested agricultural lands of Korkuteli- Osmankalfalar village, which was determined 31 different mapping units. This new method used for land gradation and soil index determination is called Şenol’s Land Evaluation Method (ŞADY), which was developed in the frame of FAO land evaluation principles. In this study, this method’s mid-results of Physical Mapping Unit Index (FHBE) values were assessed for land gradation. Soil index values obtained from each method were compared with the consideration of land and soil characteristics of each mapping units, and results were assessed in the scope of determination of soil indexes in terms of applicability for so-called methods in land consolidation. The research results showed that Şenol's Land Evolution Method which is based on an evaluation principle in consideration of all morphological, physical, chemical and other properties of land and soil, and the relationship of these properties with the need of land use type was found to be more practical and secure than the method of Storie Index based on an evaluation principle which is used only four different physical land and soil properties without consideration of land use types.
