Abstract:

The power of eye -or eye of the power- determines our social thought and practice. The first step of theorizing a free world is to reject to see the world from the eye of power, and simultaneously seeing it from the eyes of those who say another world is possible. The resistance against the power of eye is parallel to the struggle for creating a counter-culture and in this context an alternative eye. New social movements create their alternative visual culture against the culture of the spectacular power, and this culture crashes the current fiction of the show society. As a way of resisting against the illusinary visual world of the system of a consumerist culture the only chance that people have is to turn their eyes to sky instead of shopwindows.
