Abstract:

The agricultural fields have still been fallowed in Anatolia which is gene center of a lot of legumes.

Legumes are important crops used in crop rotation instead of cereal-fallow system in dry agriculture fields. Among

food legumes in Turkey, chickpea is an important legume used in crop rotation with wheat and barley. It is a nutritive

food because of its high protein content. The problems in the chickpea production can be solved by complementary

approaches which include chickpea breeding, chickpea agronomy, weather and soil conditions, suitable

drilling and cultivation techniques and socioeconomic structure of farmers in the region.

In this study, mechanization problems in chickpea production in Erzurum region will be determined and inform

about what kind of chickpea agriculture will be presented.
