Abstract:

As a late and young discipline, strategology has an interdisciplinary feature. Many disciplines are involved and/but interventions from the arts discipline are rare. However, the evaluation potential of the art discipline for strategology is high.
For this purpose, magazine covers, which are evaluated within the art discipline and as a visual art product, are discussed in the article. In this direction, the strategology main orientation of the 2018 New Year's cover of The Economist Magazine was researched and its "academic analysis" was made. German-born art historian professor Erwin Panofsky's "art criticism approach" was used in his academic analysis.
Accordingly, the article is organized in three main sections: The first section contains basic information about magazine activities in general and magazine covers. In the second part, the issue of making the magazine cover the subject of academic study is justified and its value for strategology is demonstrated. In the last part, the analysis of the 2018 New Year's cover of The Economist Magazine in terms of strategology and augmented analysis with the obtained findings is made.

Akademik çözümlemesinde Alman asıllı sanat tarihçisi profesör Erwin Panofsky’in “sanat eleştiri yaklaşımı” kullanılmıştır.
Buna göre makale üç ana bölümlü düzenlenmiştir: Birinci bölüm genel olarak dergi/cilik faaliyetleri ve dergi kapaklarına yönelik temel bilgileri içermektedir. İkinci bölümde dergi kapağının akademik inceleme konusu yapma konusu gerekçelendirilerek, stratejibilim için değeri tanıtlanmaktadır. Son bölümde The Economist Dergisi’nin 2018 yılbaşı kapağının stratrejibilim açısından çözümlemesi ve elde edilen bulgularla artırılmış çözümlemesi yapılmaktır.
