Abstract:

Ahmet Hamdi Akseki is one of the leading intellectuals of our country. In this study, his thoughts about moral responsibility were discussed. Responsibility is person's undertake own behaviors or the consequences of any event within its jurisdiction. According to Akseki; everyone who has mind and will is responsible for their actions and intentions. Human is responsible due to having mind, will and selection ability. In this context, there are two dimensions for responsibility: 1. for purpose and intent, 2. for actions resulting from purpose and intent. Intention and purpose are the most important things morally for acts. There are two conditions for responsibility: mind and freedom. Responsibility arises in our willed behaviors. In Islam, the main responsibility is personal responsibility. Each person as a willed being is personally responsible for what they did. No person shall be excluded from this responsibility. Moral responsibility occurs in three stages: 1. Conscientious responsibility, 2. Legal or Social responsibility 3. Hereafter responsibility. Akseki, accepts the impact of the conscientious and legal responsibilities. However, in his opinion, hereafter responsibility is more effective in directing our behavior.
