 Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the application of standard plain packaging on smoking attitudes and nicotine dependence of individuals. Material and Method: Smokers over the age of 18 using social media constituted the population of the descriptive correlational study. 359 individuals were included in the sample using the proportional sampling method with unknown population 95 confidence, 5 deviation. In the study, data were collected by online survey method using the Personal Information Form, the Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence, and the Attitudes Towards Smoking Scale. Results: It was observed that the level of nicotine dependence of the individuals increased as the starting age of smoking decreased p0.001, and that their level of dependence increased as their duration of regular smoking increased p0.002, and that their positive attitudes towards smoking increased as the starting age of smoking decreased p0.003. When the individuals were evaluated according to their responses to being affected by the changes in the statements on cigarette packs, they mostly found the change of the warning of Not sold to persons under 18 years of age with the warning of The penalty for selling to those under the age of 18 is imprisonment was effective by 33.1. Conclusion: It was determined that smoking attitudes of individuals was affected from standard plain package application and this affection was the highest in the socialization subdimension of the smoking attitude scale. It was considered that standard plain package application was less effective in individuals with high nicotine addiction.

 Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, bireylerin standart düz paket uygulamasına yönelik görüşlerinin sigara içme tutumları ve nikotin bağımlılıklarına etkisini incelemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ilişkisel tipte gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın evrenini, sosyal medya kullanan ve 18 yaş üzeri sigara içen kişiler oluşturmuştur. Evreni bilinmeyen oransal örneklem hesap yöntemiyle 359 birey örnekleme alınmıştır 95 güvenilirlik 5 sapma. Araştırmada veriler; Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Fagerstom Nikotin Bağımlılık Testi, Sigara İçmeye Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği kullanılarak online anket yöntemi ile toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Bireylerin sigara içmeye başlama yaşı düştükçe nikotin bağımlılıklarının arttığı p0,001, bireylerin düzenli olarak sigara içme süresi arttıkça bağımlılık düzeylerinin arttığı p0,002, sigara içmeye başlama yaşı düştükçe sigara içmeye yönelik olumlu tutumlarının arttığı görülmüştür p0,003. Bireyler, sigara paketleri üzerinde yer alan ifadelerde yapılan değişikliklerden etkilenme yanıtlarına göre değerlendirildiklerinde, 33,1 oranla en fazla 18 yaşını doldurmayanlara satılmaz şeklindeki uyarının 18 yaşını doldurmayanlara satışının cezası hapistir şeklinde değiştirilmesi uyarısını etkili bulmuşlardır. Sonuç: Bireylerin sigara içme tutumlarının standart düz paket uygulamasından etkilendiği ve bu etkilenmenin en fazla sigara içme tutum ölçeği sosyallik alt boyutunda anlamlı olduğu görülmüştür. Standart düz paket uygulamasının nikotin bağımlılığı yüksek bireylerde daha az etkili olduğu saptanmıştır.
