Abstract:

 Abstract:
This study investigates the eating behaviours of university students as a key component of health-related practices and one of the most influential lifestyle factors affecting well-being. The study aims to describe the eating patterns of young university students and identify the main characteristics of their dietary behaviour. A descriptive approach was adopted, and data were collected from a random sample of 947 students (264 males and 683 females) aged between 18 and 21 years. A tool adapted from the Adolescent Health and Development Questionnaire (Jessor, Costa, & Turbin, 2002) was used to measure health-related behaviours, including dietary habits. The results showed that the majority of students frequently skip breakfast, consume fast food or snacks instead of balanced meals, and show limited interest in reducing their intake of salt, fat, and sugar. Furthermore, daily consumption of fresh vegetables and fruit remains low. The results highlight the need for university-based nutrition education programmes that promote healthy lifestyle choices.
