Abstract:

The natural and cultural resources of our country create a rich tourism potential. However, since this potential is not evaluated correctly, it cannot be effectively protected and used sufficiently. Tourism is the most effective tool in the protection and evaluation of the potential. Especially in rural areas, by taking advantage of this effect of tourism, economic input and employment can be provided for the region. In this study, Degirmencik village of Safranbolu district of Karabuk province was chosen as the study area. The village has an important capacity for rural tourism with its natural environment and traditionally built structures. In the study, the potential of the village was examined on site with observation and evaluated with SWOT analysis, and planning suggestions were developed for the effective protection and use efforts to be able to realize the potential of Değirmencik Village. The land use proposals designed were presented in the Degirmencik Village Rural Tourism Potential Plan. Considering the benefits that rural tourism can provide to the village, it is predicted that the land use planning for the area and the suggestions for the development of tourism will contribute to the rural development of both the village and the region itself.
