Abstract:

The present article investigates the war perception of the people who lived in the Arabian Peninsula before the Prophet Muhammad’s prophethood and therefore were the primary addressee of the Prophet’s message. The causes of Prophet Muhammad’s Ghazwas and Shariyyas have been extensively studied by both the Muslim and non-Muslim scholars. These military acts constitute a large part of the prophetic biography. A thorough and detailed understanding of the prophethood era from this perspective will only be possible by looking at the Jahilliyyah society as well. The circumstances of the Jahilliyyah period have not yet been adequately studied in Turkish academia, which is the reason that the present study is concerned with this topic. The issue has been dealt in terms of the differences rather than the similarities among the wars. As a result, it has been concluded that the wars during this period had a variety of socio-economic aspects ranging from economic to personal and social factors that were shaped by customs.

Bu makalede, Hz. Peygamber’in Risaleti öncesinde Arap Yarımadasında yaşayan ve Hz. Peygamber’in davetine öncelikle muhatap olan toplumun savaş algısı ele alınmıştır. Hz.
