Abstract:

Celebration in Morocco, a most aesthetically pleasing occasion for collective gatherings, stands as a foundational and essential pillar of the cultural identity of Moroccans. The role of songs repeated in chorus in the spontaneity of their emission is so significant that it deserves meticulous sociolinguistic examination. The theory of mediation, through the intersection of its planes—linguistic of the sign and sociological of the person—offers the possibility of approaching it with accuracy, showing that what prevails is more the rhythm than the meaning. It approaches it as the singular manifestation of a choral policy that rests on the institutionalization of the principle of rejoicing. As a celebration of being together, the celebration, through the simplicity of the words chanted, is to be exploited among the other two applications of the same principle of legality, namely those of assurance and allegiance. The investment in choral aesthetics, during the multiple and diverse occasions of gathering, will thus have to fully assume its political function of stabilizing the convention.
