Abstract:

Abstract This study aimed to advocate for giving artistic education in general, and music education in particular, the deserved recognition and to promote its teaching as part of the curriculum, similarly to the other school subjects, as seen in modern education systems. The claim of the study is based on the fundamental hypothesis that there are several reasons supporting the justifying the integration of music education into our schools. To examine this hypothesis, the study employed a descriptive and analytical approach and concluded with three main arguments the right of Moroccan students to benefit from music education. These are: a legislative justification, as our country has several legislative references that support it; a cultural justification, reflected in the unique musical heritage of our country recognized worldwide; and a scientific justification, highlighting the role of musical activities in the development of the learner's personality, aesthetic taste, social skills, creative abilities, and critical thinking. Consequently, the study calls for the need to generalize the integration of music education into the Moroccan curriculum at all levels, to help instill pride in its musical heritage and to develop social and cognitive skills.
