Abstract:

Geometric ornaments have an important place in the history of depiction. The use of geometric compositions in Turkish architecture dates back to the Gokturks. However, with the Turks inclusion in Islamic civilization, the use of geometric patterns in their understanding of architectural aesthetics increased even more. However, until today, the classification of these patterns by examining the architectural works and then the pattern analysis could not be done sufficiently. In this context, the aim of our article is to reveal the use of geometric patterns used by the Turks in the architectural works they produced in Anatolia in the muqarnas of the mihrabs, which constitute the most important part of the masjids, mosques and madrasahs built in the 13th century, and to analyze the patterns, especially in Konya Sırçalı Madrasah. For this purpose, after taking photographs of the geometric patterns on the mihrab muqarnas of the madrasah and transferring them to the computer, the resulting geometric patterns will be analyzed via AutoCAD to reveal the formal, structural or geometric classification of the patterns. Thus, in addition to transferring the geometric patterns used in Anatolian Seljuk architecture to future generations in a digital environment, a document will be created to be used after possible deformations in the future.
