Abstract:

Reviving the contributions of past scholars holds considerable importance in preserving academic heritage, especially concerning unpublished manuscript works. In this context, this research sheds light on the Ḥāshiya marginal notes on Sharḥ Al-fawayid Al-diyaiya, authored by Mollazadah Muhammad Al-Kurdi Al-Suhrânî d. 10841673, a prominent scholar of the Ottoman Empire who taught in Cairo, Istanbul, and Bursa. This study address-es a gap in research concerning Ottoman grammatical heritage by compiling a detailed scholarly biography from Arabic and Ottoman sources. It further examines his published and manuscript works, considering his theological position, notably his opposition to the influential Qāḍīzāde movement that dominated the Ottoman capital at the time. Additional-ly, the research provides an analytical description of Mullāzādes marginal notes on sharh Al-fawayid Al-diyaiya of al-ʿIṣām, Ibrāhīm al-Isfarāyīnī d. 9431536, After collecting sixteen copies of the manuscript, one of which is a second edition of the book in the authors handwriting. The analysis has been conducted using bibliographic, comparative, and analytical methods. Through this, the authors writing style has been identified, his approach to scholarly critique has been examined, his method of utilizing sources has been clarified, and his style of commentary and explanation has been explored.
