Abstract:

Abstract
Identification is required for social, legal and forensic reasons. Gender determination reduces the number of suspects and facilitates the identification. Teeth are the hardest tissue in the skeleton and are not affected by environmental factors. For this reason, antemortem and postmortem dental data are used for identification. In forensic dentistry, new techniques have been developed in addition to biochemical, metric and non-metric methods. The purpose of this review is to define the methods of identification and gender determination used in forensic dentistry.
Keywords: Dentistry, forensic, human identification, sex determination tecnics.
