Abstract:

This study presents a topic related to a cycle of conflict between the actors in the Mediterranean during the sixteenth century, as it is not to be overlooked that since the end of the 15th century the Western Mediterranean basin has been considered a central and virtual space for a hot and intense east-west conflict, such as the Ottoman Empire, which was witnessing a complex situation of weakness and the diaspora, and like the West, those European powers recovering from the outcome of the renaissance, the movement of geographical disclosure and progress at the expense of the Muslim State in south-western Europe; Powers of the Iberian Peninsula. This clash has taken on many facets, from which it can be described as strategic competition with a political, religious and economic background, in which the commercial economic premise was seen as an urgent factor in a bitter conflict throughout the sixteenth century, in which the two shores of the Western Mediterranean played their roles with influence and influence and were a real field of the data of the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the modern period. While the economic aspect of this competition was prominent, it was not easy to manage the wheels of this confrontation of parity at times and for several other considerations, but rather difficult to bet priorities and the logic of power and alliances.
