Abstract:

This research was carried out in order to determine the effect of different row distances on herbage yield and quality of teff [Eragrostis tef (Zucc.) Trotter] in Bingöl ecological conditions. The research was carried out in the Bingöl University Faculty of Agriculture Research and Application area in the 2019 growing season. The field study was established with 4 repetitions, with different row spacing (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 cm) distances according to the randomized complete block design. According to the research findings; the green herbage yield of the teff in different row distances was 2561.65 kg/da, the dry herbage yield was 906.73 kg/da and the crude protein yield was 152.70 kg/da. The ADF value of the herbage quality of the teff cultivated in different row distances was found as 35.16%, NDF value was 62.83%, crude ash ratio was 9.72%, crude protein ratio was 16.77%, digestible dry matter value was 61.5%, dry matter intake was 1.918% and relative feed value was 91.25. As a result; it can be said that 30 cm row spacing distance is suitable for the cultivation of tambourine for grass in Bingöl province and regions with similar ecological conditions. This study is a preliminary study as it has not been done in the region before, and it is recommended to repeat this experiment for at least one or two more years to make it more meaningful.
