Abstract:

The purpose of the current study is to evaluate the need of Dikmen Village, one of the villages of Hasan Dağı located in the Central Anatolian Region, for sustainable development and to reveal its sustainable development-oriented rural tourism potential. In the current study, observations were conducted to collect data. Moreover, in-depth interviews were conducted with the governor of the village and villagers in line with the snow-ball sampling technique. On the basis of the needs of Dikmen Village for sustainable development, its socio-economic and environmental values were evaluated based on Nepal Capacity 21 sustainable development project according to Agenda 21 criteria. One of the alternative sources of income that can be recommended for sustainable development is rural tourism. The rural tourism potential of the village was elicited as a result of the evaluation of the collected data via SWOT analysis.
