Abstract:

Since the colonization, the French authorities aimed at the eradication of Algerian identity, targeting schools, mosques and Koranic schools, either by deconstructing or reduced funding. They transmitted the income endowments to the French Treasury; in addition, they rendered the education into French one, and established churches, transforming the habits and traditions of Algerian society, menacing its culture and identity. Facing this situation, a group of scientists had created the Association of Muslim Ulemas, who bore the banner to revive the origins of the Algerian people, by creating clubs, schools and mosques in which young people learn the Arabic language and religion to produce a well flourished generation, with a religious spirit, helped him to think of the struggle against colonialism.
