 Abstract
Theater and philosophy have contributed to the education of humankind and the development of a fully realized human society. In their contribution to the awakening of minds and the understanding of the world around us, theater and philosophy adopt completely different approaches. While mimesis is the main method of approach specific to theater, philosophy is taught in schools. Through performance, theater has an immeasurable audience, while that of philosophy is very limited. Through its power to fascinate people on stage, it has become the subject of controversy in philosophy, which accuses it of being “poisonous” and “bewitching,” going so far as to call for the eradication of theater and all theater people from society. We decipher the complexity of the relationship between theater and philosophy from a comparative perspective.
