Abstract:
Poetry is considered a significant literary genre. Poets have always been striving to enhance its structure, both in form and meaning. Palestinian poetry witnessed a notable evolution in its structure and content. As a matter of fact, Palestinian poets have consistently sought to keep up with the developments in their country, expressing patriotic, humanitarian, and national issues in a poetic form that aligns with the new mechanisms of contemporary poetry.
This approach seeks to explore the aesthetics of the most important stylistic phenomena evident in the poem “Tal Ash-shitat” (The Diaspora Has Prolonged) by the Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti, namely repetition and shift. Through this approach, we have reached several conclusions, including that the poem under analysis embodies important stylistic features, stemming from the poet's utilization of the phenomena of repetition and shift, which have contributed to the stylistic aesthetics of the poem.
