Abstract:

The most significant issues depicted by modern Arab thought are those relatedadhered to the debate about modernizing the Islamic political model remaining from the era of the Caliphate, where the book (Islam and Principles of Government) by Ali Abdel Razeq was the first serious theoretical attempt in order to open up to the modern Western political model, which is the model of (the modern state) and to reject The model of the (Islamic caliphate), and his call coincided with the declaration of the Turkish leader (Kemal Ataturk) to dissolve the caliphate. However, another book, no less important than its predecessor, belongs to the religious thinker and reformer (Rashid Rida), and it bears the title (The Caliphate), which was also published in the same context He tried to solve out what could be saved from the dilapidated caliphate system at the fall of the Ottoman caliphate and the crystallization of the Turkish national movement, which was followed later by the crystallization of the Arab national movement.
