Abstract:

After an extensive research under the title: (The Phenomenon of Verbal Common in Machine Translation (Google Translator from Arabic to English as a model), the researchers reached fruitful results, which can be summarized in the following points: Machine translation cannot work like the human mind, and it cannot comprehend terms. It does not take into account the cultural and social differences from one language to another, as it relies on translating letters in most cases, in addition to morphological, grammatical and linguistic problems, and based on that, machine translation is not valid at all in translating the meanings of the Holy Qur’an. It is difficult for the automatic translator to differentiate between common morphological forms, as is the case in the linking of the active participle and the passive participle, and the automatic translation in general does not take into account the rhetorical and figurative methods and purposes such as satire, irony and mockery. Machine translation cannot translate the elements of linguistic richness in general and the verbal common and the words of opposites in particular, since the words are similar or identical in writing and have different meanings. Also, machine translation cannot differentiate between diacritics and orthographical images because it does not take into account the context, which is the basis for differentiating between common and opposite words; This is difficult even in human, as well as machine translation. The matter can be dealt with as follows: creating a language database that enables the computer to achieve high accuracy in translating texts, training the computer to differentiate between common words and opposites according to context and external factors, using artificial intelligence techniques in order for the computer to develop its knowledge base and improve its text processing. Here, the matter must be accompanied by follow-up and review by translation experts, making the computer self-develop its knowledge and linguistic base through repetition and follow-up, and this results in the so-called (prediction language). The paper adopted the descriptive analytical approach, where the two researchers describe the phenomenon of opposites and explain its problems in machine translation, using the Google translator from Arabic to English as a model, trying to find solutions to these problems, and analyzing the translation results that were translated by Google. The research was based on lofty goals, including: defining the phenomenon of opposites and clarifying its problems in machine translation, and developing solutions to the difficulties that face the machine translator in translating words of opposites. The two researchers recommended the necessity of creating an electronic application by associations concerned with the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an in coordination between linguists, translation, interpretation, origins and others, so that the translation is accurate and free from the problems addressed by the two researchers.
