Abstract:

Modern Algerian poetry remained - during the first half of the twentieth century - a hostage of the conservative traditional trend, and the latter remained dominant in the Algerian poetry arena due to the possibility of many circumstances and factors, possibly the most prominent of which are: the affiliation of most Algerian poets under the banner of the reformist movement. In the midst of these circumstances, there was a boom in opposition to the poetic prevalent; Represented in Ramadan Hammoud's call to renew poetry in vision and form. With the outbreak of the liberation revolution, a new poetic pattern emerged, It is the free poetry.
This is how this study to explore the beginnings of the renewal movement in modern Algerian poetry during the colonial period.
