Abstract:

This study aimed at highlighting the administrative and military Fatimid caliph thought through the building to the city of Mahdia between 303-308h (916-921), most previous studies have addressed the talk of the town as the capital of Fatimid, by contrast, has not dealt with on the basis of the defensive organization against hostile attacks, they serve as a castle or a bulwark unique in model construction, in the early period of the history of the Arab-Islamic Morocco presence, in addition to that, the study stood on the causes and circumstances that called Mahdi thinking about building this castle, and is limited to those circumstances, the internal struggle between the Zenata and Ketama since ancient times, and increased by the Fatimid caliphate, then the outer next threat from the Umayyad in Andalusia and Byzantine danger, and therefore build this city attributes his privacy not found at other Moroccan cities, in terms of choice of position, preparation and equipment used in construction, which has already given the continuity of existence Fatimid in Morocco in 361 AH, despite the difficulties Grave carried by the first four Fatimid caliphs in period of their rule in Morocco.
