Abstract:

"The research paper aims to highlight the contributions of the tourism sector to the national economy by examining its current state and potential. This is achieved through an analysis of the results attained by the tourism industry in recent years, based on key indicators such as its contribution to GDP, its role in employment generation, and its impact on promoting non-hydrocarbon exports. The study found that, despite Algeria’s adoption of various modern policies and strategies to develop its tourism sector, it remains far from achieving its desired goals due to structural imbalances within the industry. Moreover, the underutilization of the sector’s rich potential has hindered its efficiency, preventing it from becoming a strategic alternative to the hydrocarbon sector in the medium and long term.".
