Abstract:

The concern over China's efforts to increase its influence in the Indian Ocean through its rising economic and military power drives the US and its regional allies to improve their security relations with South and Southeast Asian countries, particularly with India. This leads to a change in the US-based hub and spoke system, as it is not applicable to the Indo-Pacific region due to the hedging strategies of relevant countries. The aim of this study is to analyze the link between the Indo-Pacific conceptualization and the change in the regional security cooperation structure and to describe how this change affects the security relations between India and Japan. It is emphasized that the new security structure based on the network of allies and friendly countries leads different countries to improve their security relations and one of the most concrete examples of this situation is the Indo-Japanese relationship..
