Abstract:

This intervention looks forward to studying Sanhaja Castle (Torres Castle) in order to shed light on the military buildings in the Rif area on the one hand, and to illuminate some obscure aspects of the history of the building, which remained almost absent in modern research, on the other hand. Our work will focus primarily on inventorying the literary texts that dealt with the building according to its importance and comparing it with the results of archaeological research carried out on its structures despite its limitations, because the task of extracting and scrutinizing results remains entrusted to archaeological research as the only means for many problems related to the urbanization of the site. This is not to weaken the importance of literary references, but to recommend and scrutinize them in order to highlight the importance of the phenomenon of urbanization in Morocco in general and the Rif area in particular.
