Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to reveal the effects of pavilion culture on family life as a result of interviews with pavilion goers, pavilion workers and wifes. Qualitative research method was used in the research and data was collected through in-depth interviews with 17 participants residing in Ankara. These participants include pavilion goers (5 persons), pavilion owners (2 persons), wifes (5 persons), pavilion artist (1 person), and hostess (4 persons). NVivo 12 program was used to analyze the data obtained from the interviews. After the coding and categorical groupings, the themes of “Pavilion”, “Direct Effects” and “Indirect Effects” were obtained by analyzing the data with inductive technique. The "Domestic Problems" sub-category discussed in this article includes some of the findings revealed under the theme of “Direct Effects”.
According to the general findings obtained in the study, it was revealed that the biggest problems that pavilion goers had with their families were problems such as “lying and cheating”, “economic problems” and “not allocating time for the family”. According to the interviews made especially with the goers and wifes, it was analyzed that all kinds of problems, including bringing to the second wife, occur in such families. In addition, it was revealed that the pavilion owners and the pavilion artist had difficulties especially in allocating time to their families.
