Abstract:

The effects of Hutbak papers on the cold storage of Ortanique tangor fruits grown in Dörtyol-Hatay conditions on Carrizo citrange and sour orange Tuzcu 3131 rootstocks were investigated. Ortanique tangor fruits picked from 2 different rootstocks at the time of optimal harvest maturity were wrapped with hutbak wrapping paper and without wrapping the paper and kept for 3 months at 5 ºC temperature and 8590 relative humidity. In addition, for the shelf life, fruits were kept at 20 ºC at 7075 relative humidity for 7 days after cold storage. Weight loss, appearance, incidence of physiological disorders and fungal decay, rate of green bottom, fruit peel color and peel thickness, juice, total soluble solid TSS and titratable acid TA contents, TSSTA ratio, juice pH value and taste changes in taste were determined at monthly interval during cold storage and shelf life. According to the results the weight loss for the without wrapping was higher than for the wrapped packages ones. The appearance scores of the without wrapping and wrapped packaging of the Ortanique tangor fruits grown on both rootstocks at the end of 3 months were 3. Tasting scores of fruits kept in without wrapping were lower than wrapped ones. It had been determined that Ortanique tangor variety fruits packaged in both ways can be stored for 2 months in quality at 5 C and 8590 relative humidity.
