Abstract:

The aim of the study is to examine the compliance of the hospital gardens determined in the example of the city of Aydın with the idea and criteria of "Design for All" without discrimination of users and to evaluate the compliance of these determined hospital gardens with the accessible user criteria within the framework of the determined criteria. In this context, the problems faced by the users in the hospital gardens are determined, approaches and examples that will allow all users to access the usage areas in the hospital garden and use these areas as they wish are researched and solutions are developed for the problems encountered. Direct examinations and observations were made in the determined hospital gardens and the data obtained; supported by satellite images, photographs, site plans, visuals related to the subject, and literature review was made from written sources and internet sites related to the subject and these data were synthesized. Among the areas where universal design criteria are applied, public spaces which are the areas most used by the society should be at the top of the priority list. Since every member of the society uses these spaces for their needs, these spaces should be designed in a way that facilitates the use of all individuals.
