Abstract:

Although womens play has been a concept used in our theatre for a quarter of a century, it has not been theoretically focused on, its definition and framework have not been studied. This research aims to find answers to the questions of what womens play is, how it can be defined, in what meanings it is used. For this purpose, it aims to examine the views of theatre professionals on womens play and to bring the subject to a debatable point, and to be a first in this context. A qualitative method was used in the research, and the feminist perspective was adopted as the interpretative framework. In the article, which follows Creswells 2013 suggestions on qualitative research procedures, strategies and the language to be used, the findings are conveyed with a descriptive approach by exemplifying them and interpreted in the light of the sources. Although it is understood that the expression womens play has various intentions, it is expected from this expression to have a feminist or gender equality perspective, to have a female character in the center, and to use feminine language.
