Abstract:

The arguments of those who defended the idea of "Islamic psychology" are exhausted, Their views presented to represent this science are described as mere urgent reactions rather than real alternatives. If it held together, it is like the consistency of chocolate bars that quickly melt with the first epistemological bath that they are subject to. Despite their large number they have not been able to present a transient scientific definition of the theses of this new speciality; these efforts have not succeeded in building any model or conceptual framework that could bring this science together and organize its fragments. Most of the studies published on the concepts of Islamic psychology are colored with an ideological philosophical color that is not able to confront the requirements of realistic psychological practice; because of the blurry and gelatinous terminology used in this area. Perhaps the most important term that has been used by the authors of theses of Islamic psychology is the term that is supposed to describe the subject of this science in itself; namely, (self), as they considered – unjustifiably - that the ‘self’ mentioned in the religious text is the same self as the subject of psychology; and they built on this false consideration all their psychological interpretations of the verses and texts that included the term.
In the light of this huge cloud surrounding the so-called Islamic psychology, the real question to be asked remains: Do we really need to develop an Islamic psychology? Can we not only fulfill our psychological needs as Muslims through the cultural rehabilitation of certain theories and laws of contemporary psychology?
In order to answer these questions and others, the researcher first started to demolish the thesis of the possibility of rooting by subjecting it to some of the epistemological questions such as the question of the curriculum and the question of the term and the question of definition; to answer the thesis of the possibility of qualification; with the possibility of considering the Islamic character as the subject of this science, we can call it the psychology of the Islamic personality, but with its well-known scientific conditions, not theological, seeking to be rooted.
