Abstract:

This research addresses the issue of violence against women and the role of criminal policy in providing the necessary protection for women. Violence is considered one of the most serious violations, practiced continuously and often in hidden ways. Its severity lies in targeting the most vulnerable element of society, which leads to grave consequences both at the individual level of women and at the collective level, by undermining security and stability. We also find that its forms differ from one field to another. Thus, the family sphere suffers from many phenomena that affect the social life of women, especially married women. For this reason, this paper reveals the types of violence practiced against women and the contributing factors, which may essentially be the main cause of this dangerous scourge. To confront violence, Morocco has intensified its efforts through a set of reforms and laws, such as the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Penal Code, not to mention the Family Code. Keywords: violence against women, types of violence, causes of violence, protection of women, social life of women.
