Abstract:

The article discusses the impact of the strategic partnership agreement "AUKUS" between the United States, Britain, and Australia on the African continent, with a focus on Algeria's position within this alliance. This agreement aims to provide Australia with nuclear submarines to counter Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region, which has led to significant financial and strategic losses for France.
The analysis concludes that this agreement reflects a strategic shift in American policy towards Asia, with indirect impacts on Russia. It also examines the position of the global and African economies within this alliance, highlighting the decline in foreign direct investment flows due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uneven economic recovery among countries.
On the other hand, the article explains how Africa is witnessing international competition for influence, with the United States in retreat compared to increased Chinese and Russian activity. Here, African governments must exploit this competition to achieve economic gains while being cautious of the risks posed by foreign debts and investments. The article also attempts to answer whether Africa can maintain neutrality amid this international conflict, emphasizing the importance of adopting a strategic position that secures the continent’s economic and political interests.
