Abstract:

Ammoneion (in Greek), or Siwa Oasis, as it known today, is one of the most important and most famous of western Egyption desert (Sahara) oases, but this geographical classification comes only in line with the modern division of borders, because this Oasis was, originally, belonging to the Libyan Cyrenaica province, and the fact that this oasis in ancient times was one of the important so it can be likened to the largest centers of civilizations in the world, in past and present, because it contain an important religious center, it was Ammon oracle temple, and many people of Europe, Asia and Africa, have pilgrimaged it, including leaders and kings and politicians, all asking for advice it's priests in matters of war, peace, trade and etc, the reason is due to fame and reputation this temple in revelation of future. Moreover Ammoneion was commercial link between many trade routes from all directions, it was enclosed by ancient sources with respect and reverence, because it was a religious, cultural and commercial center, for these reasons and others, it was sacred spot for all people, not only it's neighbors, but also foreigners strangers, otherwise Ammoneion was described as the richest in supplies of water and natural resources, it was like a paradise in middle of the desert, which in it all ancient civilizations was fused, to the extent that it's priests, in that time, as required by their profession as prophets, and as it was necessitated by the diversity of races their visitors, spoke in several languages, as Egyptian, Libyan, Greek, Latin, Phoenician and others.
