Abstract:

In this research, Rousseau’s contribution to the process of the concept of the nation-state is mentioned, and how the effect of the 18th century Enlightenment philosophy on politics is shaped by the European political system and how it is shaped on the basis of Rousseau’s thoughts. While the study examines the connection of these effects as a result of political dynamics, it is also a kind of contemporary interpretation of Rousseau’s work named ‘The Social Contract’. How the theoretical ideas of Rousseau, one of the thinkers who had the greatest influence on the French Revolution, left a mark today and how he changed the political and legal definitions of Europe will be discussed in the study.
