Abstract:

In the narrative of the Masjid al-Durrār, which is mentioned in the context of the exegesis of verse 107 of Sūrat al-Tawba, there is a confusion about the identity of the people who were accused of hypocrisy and built Masjid al-Ḍirār. Zayd b. Jāriya d.? is one of the names of the group mentioned in this narrative whose identity is ambiguous and confused. The ambiguity in his identity and the accusation of nifaq against him played an important role in the selection and study of this name. As a matter of fact, in the past, various opinions have been put forward about this name in the Islamic literature. In order to eliminate this confusion, we have dealt with his identification. We have limited the study to its examination of Zayd b. Jāriyah in terms of identification. This kind of identification is important for the exegesis of narrations. In this research, the examination of a figure of interest to multiple fields beyond tafsir has necessitated an interdisciplinary approach. The identification of the aforementioned person and the problems arising in this regard have been at the centre of the study. Therefore, the article aims to solve the problems and clarify the identity of this name. Methodically the study, the reason for the revelation of the 107th verse of Sūrat al-Tawba, its short exegesis and the comments of the commentators on the verse were touched upon respectively, identifies five other people named Zayd b. Jāriya in the sources, addresses the problems of Zayd b. Jāriyas identification, and finally tries to clarify his identity. It is hoped that this study will make a contribution to the field in terms of healthy criticism of the narrations from Zayd b. Jāriya.

Tevbe Sûresi 107. âyetin tefsiri bağlamında zikrolunan Dırâr mescidi anlatısında kendilerine nifak isnad edilen ve Mescid-i Dırârı yapan kişilerin kimliğini tespit noktasında bir karışıklık söz konusudur. Zeyd b. âyetinin sebeb-i nüzûlü, kısa tefsiri ve müfessirlerin âyetle ilgili yorumlarına temas edilmiş, kaynaklarda Zeyd b. Câriye adını taşıyan diğer beş kişi tespit edilmiş, Zeyd b. Câriyenin kimlik tespiti problemlerine değinilmiş ve nihayetinde onun kimliği netleştirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın, Zeyd b. Câriyeden gelen rivayetleri sağlıklı kritize etme bakımından alana katkı sağlayacağı umulmaktadır.
