Abstract:

The science of rhetoric al-Balāgha is a discipline within the fields of Arabic language and literature, which examines how language can be developed in accordance with time and place. This science aims to convey meaning in an accurate way and express it through effective and beautiful language usage. It also encompasses rhetorical techniques applied to enhance the beauty and expressive power of language. Beyond being a science that deepens the meaning of language and ensures its effective expression, rhetoric has also a logical structure. The science of rhetoric consists of three main disciplines: meʿānī beyān badī. Each discipline has its own fundamental concepts, principles, methodologies, and valid theories shaped within a unique philosophical framework. The philosophy of this science is based on shaping speech in accordance with the situation or context; how the aesthetic and functional aspects of language complement each other; and how thoughts and emotions can be conveyed more effectively. Before becoming systematic, rhetoric existed as a skill melekah, but similar to social sciences, it has undergone a long development and maturation process, and over time it has been examined in more depth and acquired a systematic structure. During this process, rhetoric has been influenced by many different fields of science. The Arabic language and the Quran played a significant role in shaping the science of rhetoric, influencing everything from its structural features to literary traditions. Since the Late Period, the interaction between the science of rhetoric, which has been significantly influenced by logic in terms of concepts, definitions, and methods, and logic itself, has become one of the most important intellectual developments in Arabic literature. Logic ensures the correctness of thought, while rhetoric helps present these thoughts in an aesthetic and effective manner. The mutual influence of these two disciplines has enhanced the power of language and enriched its intellectual depth. In the literature, there are only a limited number of studies on the philosophy of rhetoric and its relationship with the science of logic, and the existing studies generally focus on the historical, aesthetic, and literary aspects of rhetoric. It has been determined that the topic has not been examined at the desired academic level, and the related issue has been attempted to be explored as the subject of this study. The study has been written with a literature review and an analysis-based methodology.
