Abstract:

After the occupation of İzmir, an awareness of the occupations was created all over Anatolia, and solutions were sought. The Sandıklı district of Afyonkarahisar was also one of the settlements where the most reaction was shown against the Greek occupation. After the occupation, the Sandıklı National Forces Organization was formed and the people of Sandıklı did not spare any help they could. One of the activities of the Sandıklı National Forces Organization against the Greek occupation was to form an infantry and cavalry detachment. In the following period, these organizations were later transformed into the Sandıklı Detachment. The Sandıklı Detachment was constructed by the regional military branches before the Second İnönü War and later reconstituted by the Afyonkarahisar Military Branch on May 20, 1921. The Sandıklı Detachment consisted of a three battalion infantry regiment, a three company cavalry regiment, and a two-gun mountain battery. The Sandıklı Detachment later joined the regular army and continued its activities in the National Struggle until the capture of İzmir.
