Abstract:

This study aims to identify the position of the elderly in the family in light of current social changes. This explains the deterioration that has affected the relationship of older persons with their family members, and because Algerian society has witnessed changes in social systems and structures, like the transformation experienced by the largest social institution, the family, through its transition from extended to nuclear. From a rural to urban society, the signs of social change are beginning to appear in the family, especially urban ones, such as independence and the love of separation from the large family. This pattern of change has led to a situation of instability and a decline in the status of elderly with their family members. As a result of this painful reality which has affected the elderly, this study reveals the real status of the elderly with their family members in light of the current social change. This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
