ABSTRACT :
This research aims to explore semantic isotopy in Zahran Al-Qasimi’s novel "Honey Hunger", a concept introduced by Greimas into the field of narrative semiotics. The study seeks to ensure a coherent reading of the novel by elucidating the mechanisms that achieve semantic cohesion within the text. It will focus on analyzing semiotic isotopy through core semes and lexical isotopy by examining recurring linguistic units to clarify the textual thresholds in the narrative. These thresholds serve a functional role in the text, expressing and reinforcing its coherence and consistency. Additionally, the study will highlight different types of isotopy—psychological, social, religious, and others—to uncover the various meanings embedded in the novel. This comprehensive approach has motivated the researcher to examine the text from multiple perspectives, aiming to reveal the most significant linguistic isotopies from a semiotic standpoint.
