Abstract:

Depression is a disease showing somatic and psychological symptoms such as hopelessness, self-contempt, self-esteem, sleep and appetite disturbances. The child is a developing individual and can be affected by positive and negative stress factors during the developmental stages more or less due to structural features. Depression is a disease which is common in children, severe, recurrent, substantially reducing the child's social relationships and school performance and is a disease that can result in chronicity, or suicide when the patient is left untreated. How earlier the disease begins it will affect the children's development more negatively, so it is thought that when the years spend with illness increases the negative effects will also increase. For this reason, the child who has got this disease can be diagnosed early and by using appropriate treatment methods, support and using appropriate ways of coping with the illness depression can be reduced or even solved.
The aim of this study is to examine depression and depression in children in the light of literature and in this context to emphasize the treatment methods of depression by considering the symptoms of depression in children.
